Having been in many similar situations, I always, always put my money on the roadies. In some respects, it's what they get paid for ("heavy lifting"), and having served as one (not bragging, just observing), the only one from the bands I worked with that I was glad to have around in such a situation was one cranky bass player. besides The Warlocks' manager (Hank Harrison), there was that wrestler Peter "the Crusher" Bonebrake (or whatever his name was) who managed Led Zepplin...

boy, that row they (Peter +Zep roadies) had with Bill Graham Security backstage - that's the story that tops them all.

Yow!

I didn't know we could play roadies, d'oh! Absolutely.

Apropos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBTkhZWGv9I

Too bad video wasn't ubiquitous in the day, love to see the Malcolm Young vs. Geezer Butler.

Malcolm won. Lesson: The more ostentatiously aligned with the "dark side," the less I'd want them on my side.
